Home is a heavy word for me, weighted by the stories of war-immigrant grandparents and politically-persecuted parents. Heavy with my own immigration story...
I think about my parents’ idea of home and how their return makes them feel a bit like strangers. Their growth up and through the soil is interrupted. They smell and walk different. It feels good to be sure and they sink in, but there is their home in America and when they get beyond a certain layer back home, want to be here again.
